"I thought we were an amazing couple. In a way, it might hurt you to hear this, but since there is no sequel to Serenity it is a relief, because I can’t imagine Zoe without him. I really can’t." - Gina Torres

If I watch any more Firefly I’m going to die of unrequited shipping feelings.

I looked at this and the first thought I got was “aww, Hal and Carol are dressed up as Mal and Inara for Halloween!”
And then suddenly I realized I wanted Green Lantern/Firefly crossovers all the time forever.

reblogging for massively awesome fanart.

So, no one’s actually asked, but I thought I’d explain why this meme rubs me up the wrong way.

Fuck - I like the word ‘fuck’. A lot. I use it. A LOT. When intimacy and consent exists, the word ‘fuck’ is also awesome to use in relation to sex and sexual activity.

But I also think the word has…

my partner and i play “bff, marry, airlock.” marriage, for us, includes lots and lots of sex, so that is the most desired of the three options. bff is someone who would be awesome to hang out with a lot in a totally platonic way. and then you have to put someone in the airlock (hopefully they’ll get rescued like cally and chief or be let in at the last second like jayne). the presumption is that these first two options are entirely consensual, and if possible, involve the two of us and the famous person/character in a threesome.

i have yet to find a problem (not between blood relatives) that cannot be solved by a threesome.

But Zoe is the closest to an A+ I have seen out of that universe. Nothing is perfect, and never will be. But, to me, it can hardly get better, I love her so much. Fierce bitch with emotions, smart, level headed, and gets booty on her own time. You better do it. Handle yours, Zoe.

I was all in on his depiction of Zoe right up until we never saw her shed a single tear about her husband’s death, or anyone else’s for that matter. Also, that bullshit with still calling Mal sir.

i definitely see where you’re coming from. i see both of those things as part of what zoe does to stay in control, because she thinks if she didn’t let her war training take over, she’d be too vulnerable and emotional. i think she uses “sir” sarcastically most of the time, but it’s also a way to remind mal that he has to pay attention to the people under his command because he’s supposed to be in charge. she definitely should have been able to call him by name when they weren’t working, that would have been much less icky. but that’s just my extrapolation.

This is the photo that Professor James Miller posted on his door that “could be interpreted as a threat,” or was “an implied threat of violence” that represented an imminent danger to the campus community and created an environment where students and professors could not feel “welcome, safe, and secure.”
The top 3 administrators at the school defended this decision, and the professor was threatened with charges of disorderly conduct if he posted this or a similar picture again before the school finally came to its senses and dropped the issue.
I’m reblogging the original picture posted by Professor Miller. Anyone feel threatened or insecure? (I’m just waiting for the sarcastic Wash response: “Oh God, oh God, we’re all going to die?”)

yes, actually, that’s pretty threatening coming from a professor who has power over students. no, i don’t think he’s going to kill any of his students, but a university is not the place for violent imagery. not to mention the fact that some of his students or fellow professors could have lived in places where they faced violence on a daily basis - if nothing else it is just insensitive. the professor’s chair or dean should have asked him to take it down and he should have done so out of a desire to not be an asshole. there are lots of other mal quotes to choose from if he wants to show his firefly love.
