Or you could just, you know, say “Your flirtation makes me uncomfortable, please stop.” The word creepy can really devastate someone’s self esteem, it’s pretty much synonymous with unappealing and undesirable. I agree that if a girl says something, you should just STOP. But both sides need to consider each other’s feelings here.
NO. i am TIRED OF THIS. men know perfectly well when someone does not want to talk to them. there are studies about this. most people can correctly identify verbal signals and body language that indicate that the other person does not want to talk to them. ONLY creepy guys claim that they need specific words to understand that a woman is uninterested, and then they take issue with her tone. if she says “thanks, but i’m not interested right now,” they ask when will she be interested? how can they change her mind? she left the door open, didn’t she? if she says “NOT INTERESTED, GO AWAY” they call her a b**** and any violence that follows is her fault.
in no other situation is the victim of harassment supposed to find THE PERFECT RESPONSE to the harasser. aggressive sales people are douches for bothering customers. evangelicals are assholes for pushing religion. “unattractive” women who hit on men are worthy of mockery. in every case, the harasser “should know better” than to bother the victim. no it is NOT up to women to BE NICE. it is up to men to BACK THE HELL OFF.
